Getting to Clarity

Sobriety is ok as an ideal if the alternative is the loss of life's most important things, but it's hard to get excited about sobriety because it's negative. In other words, sobriety means "lack of intoxication," and intoxication is so...well, intoxicating.

Clarity, on the other hand, is something I can get excited about. And while clarity is definitely built on sobriety, clarity leads on to better things. The best choices are made in moments of great clarity. And clarity leads directly to brilliance because the light shines brightest through that which is clear.

Yes, I need sobriety, but not for sobriety's sake. I need sobriety because I love and crave clarity and all of the wonderful things it brings to my body, my mind, and my spirit.
